For shorter adventures, walk, take public transit, ride your bike (regular, electric-assisted, or something fancier, skateboard, rollerblades, or even look into an electric scooter.
MGTC has undertaken an active role in driving this transition through its Low Carbon Mobility Division. In 2015, MGTC introduced chargEV which is the brand of its public EV charging station network. Besides providing convenient and accessible charging points for users of electric vehicles, it serves as an instrument for the public to experience the EV lifestyle in the Malaysian landscape.
As at end of 2021, MGTC had successfully installed a total of 403 chargEV stations at public and private locations with more than 10,000 subscribed members. The stations covering shopping malls, high-residentials, hotels, Petronas stations and other selected places.
To monitor the performance of all these chargEV stations as well as the distance driven by users, the chargEV network collectively tracks the charging activity.
- Electricity charged = 1,030 MWh with 172,859 sessions
- Estimated electric range = 6,864,900 km
- Estimated co2 emissions reduction = 1,311,196 kgCO2
- Carbon sequestered by trees = 32,780 trees/year
