Project Overview
Project 8 focuses on demonstrating the viability of Battery Swapping System (BSS) electric motorcycles (E2Ws) for Malaysia’s commercial and delivery sectors. The project aimed to evaluate whether battery-swapping technology could overcome key challenges faced by fixed-battery electric motorcycles, such as limited range, long charging times, and high upfront costs.

Findings
- Riders covered up to 250 km per day using swap-enabled electric motorcycles.
- Battery swapping was found to be quick, reliable, and highly practical for continuous operations.
- Riders reported monthly savings of several hundred ringgit on fuel and maintenance
- User satisfaction was high among commercial riders, who cited smoother rides, quieter operations, and no downtime for charging.
- The project concluded that battery-swapping motorcycles are viable for high-mileage (>85km) users and could achieve over 50% emissions reduction compared to internal combustion motorcycles.
