[Discovery News = Reporter Kang Seong-duk] The ‘K-eco Global ESG Delegation’ of the Korea Environment Corporation under the Ministry of Environment disseminated the ESG management promotion system and major achievements of the Korea Environment Corporation in Malaysia from the 19th to the 22nd of this month.
The ‘K-eco Global ESG Delegation (hereinafter referred to as the delegation)’ was newly launched after the inauguration of Chairman Im Sang-jun in January to enhance Korea’s international status and establish a bridgehead for exports in the environmental industry.
Prior to this year’s ASEAN Summit (May 23 ~ 28) , the delegation participated in the ‘Korea-Mal ESG Forum’ hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Malaysia on the 19th and introduced the best practices of ESG management to Malaysia, the host country of the ASEAN Summit, to promote the excellence of Korea’s ESG management to the international community.
At this meeting, various practical solutions for ESG, such as ESG policies related to climate change response in both countries and climate finance utilization plans such as carbon emission trading, were discussed.
The delegation also discussed ESG cooperation plans with Malaysian environment-related public institutions SWCorp (Solid Waste Management Public Institution) , MGTC (Public Institution for Climate Change Response) , and Socar, which provides car-sharing services, and SK Magic, which operates a water purifier rental business.
The Corporation plans to take the initiative to participate in the ‘Korea-Mal ESG Forum’, which the Embassy of Malaysia has hosted annually since 2022, by discovering agendas.
Im Sang-joon, chairman of the Korea Environment Corporation, said, “Based on the delegation and the Southeast Asia office in Malaysia, the Korea Environment Corporation will expand its ESG cooperation to neighboring ASEAN countries such as Vietnam” and added, “We will continue to actively carry out ESG management activities that can set an example for the international community.”
