Malaysia champions energy transition, water transformation, and climate action through high-level forums and strategic collaborations under the theme “Energising Sustainability, Aspiring Lives”.
MALAYSIA is leading the conversation on sustainability, energy transition, and climate resilience at Expo 2025 Osaka, as the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES) co-host the Week 22 programme at the Malaysia Pavilion from 8 to 14 September 2025.
With the theme “Energising Sustainability, Aspiring Lives”, the week-long initiative underscores Malaysia’s ambitious commitment to building a green and inclusive future, while strengthening international partnerships in the areas of clean energy, water resource management, and climate action.
The opening ceremony was officiated by the Secretary General of PETRA, Dato’ Haji Mad Zaidi Mohd Karli, who emphasised the nation’s vision to align economic growth with responsible environmental stewardship.
Two flagship business forums anchor the week’s programme. The Energy Transition and Water Transformation Forum brings together global policymakers, industry experts, and corporate leaders to reaffirm Malaysia’s commitment to a just and inclusive energy transition.
Discussions centre on policy alignment, innovation, and investment, alongside a strategic push to modernise the water sector through digitalisation and integrated resource management.
The Green Technology and Climate Change Forum provides a platform for dialogue on climate resilience, sustainable development, and emerging carbon markets. The forum also explores the critical role of business in achieving sustainability targets and features Malaysian innovators and international players championing green technologies.
Together, these forums reaffirm Malaysia’s strong ambition to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2050 and cement its regional leadership in sustainable energy, water transformation, and climate action.
Malaysia’s participation is also expected to drive trade and investment, with a robust presence from companies across the energy, water, and green technology sectors. These include Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), Malakoff, UEM Lestra, Air Selangor, Ranhill SAJ, Concorde Renewable Energy, Thursinar Energy, Pumar Solar Power, FatHopes Energy, Global Tunikara, Nextgreen Global, Gaia Greentech, Heng Hiap Industries, and Cube Global.
The week also marks several significant milestones with the signing of Memoranda of Understanding and Cooperation, aimed at strengthening partnerships and accelerating progress towards shared sustainability goals.
The Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC), as the implementing agency, has curated a series of initiatives throughout the week, highlighting Malaysia’s achievements in sustainable development.
In doing so, MGTC worked closely with PETRA, NRES, and key stakeholders including the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA), National Water Services Commission (SPAN), Energy Commission (ST), Indah Water Consortium (IWK), Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB), and the National Water Research Institute of Malaysia (NAHRIM). – September 9, 2025
