PERAK Transit Bhd said its subsidiary has obtained the Green Project Certificate under the Green Technology Financing Scheme (GTFS) administered by the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC).
The certification recognises the group’s initiative involving the procurement of 30 King Long City Buses (Euro 5) comprising 15 units of 8.9-metre and 15 units of 10.5-metre models as a Green Project valued at RM17.1 million.
According to the company, the project meets all GTFS eligibility criteria under the Energy Efficient Vehicle type in the transportation sector and user category.
“Obtaining GTFS certification for our Euro 5 Green City Buses underscores Perak Transit’s commitment to sustainable and energy-efficient transport solutions. This recognition validates our strategic direction to modernise our fleet responsibly, enhance operational efficiency, and align our growth with Malaysia’s green development goals,” said its ED Datuk Cheong Peak Sooi.
Perak Transit said the GTFS certification provides access to preferential green financing terms, including government guarantees and interest-rate support, thereby improving capital efficiency and financial flexibility.
The group added that the milestone strengthens its environmental, social and governance (ESG) credentials, positions it favourably with institutional investors, and supports long-term value creation.
The GTFS is a government-backed initiative by MGTC that promotes green investments through financial incentives, government guarantees and preferential loan rates for certified projects.
It aims to accelerate Malaysia’s transition towards a low-carbon and resource-efficient economy. — TMR
