MyHIJAU Mark is Malaysia’s official green recognition endorsed by the Government of Malaysia, bringing together certified green products and services that meet local and international environmental standards under one single mark.
An online platform for procurers, government ministries, and members of the general public to find information about all green products and services that have been recognised under the MyHIJAU Mark.
This online platform can be accessed through the website; www.myhijau.my via online and mobile apps; MyHIJAU App which can be downloaded via both Play Stores and App Store.
To support the marketing of green products and services, the Government is also practicing what they preach through the Government Green Procurement (GGP) initiative. Launched in 2013, the GGP seeks to integrate environmental considerations towards Government-based procurements, taking
into account the protection of the natural environment, reduction of pollution, and the conservation of resources. By 2020, all Government offices will implement the GGP, and 20% of purchases of selected products or services procured by the public sector will be green-labelled.
In 2018, GGP Guidelines 2.0 were published to act as an updated reference, covering 20 GGP criteria for green products and services, such as ICT equipment, air-conditioning systems, and cleaning services. The core team in charge of GGP, led by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change (MESTECC), will continue to expand on this initiative as well as further develop the GGP Guidelines. The GGP team will also collaborate with the Department of Works to develop the Guidelines of Work Procurement, in order to further increase the value the GGP can contribute.
Green Practices Guideline; a significant milestone in the ongoing implementation of the MyHIJAU Programme since 2012 as part of the Green Industry efforts outlined in the Twelfth Malaysia Plan. This programme is under the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (NRECC) and coordinated by the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC).
Green Jobs Malaysia is an initiative by the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation to accelerate the green economy, advance climate action and inculcate a green lifestyle.
To upskill technical human capital in the field of Green Technology, MGTC created various programs in different aspects of managing and reducing energy consumption in equipping Malaysia’s workforce.
The Government has made a strong stance in renewable energy targets by increasing the share of renewable energy in the electricity generation capacity mix to 70% by 2050. In line with Malaysia’s aspiration to be an inclusive, sustainable and carbon neutral nation by 2050, the Government had announced the revision of Green Technology Tax Incentive during the 2024 National Budget.
In tandem with the Malaysian Government’s agenda to drive the growth of Malaysia’s green economy, the Green Technology Tax Incentive was introduced in 2014. The programme aims to provide the industry with an option of two available incentives. Companies seeking to acquire qualifying green technology assets listed under the MyHIJAU Directory or those undertaking qualifying green technology projects for business or own consumption may apply to the Green Investment Tax Allowance (GITA). The Green Income Tax Exemption (GITE) is available for qualifying green technology service provider companies listed under the MyHIJAU Directory.
Further tax deduction of up to RM300,000 will be granted to companies that incur expenses on MRV and activities related to the development of Carbon Projects. This incentive is applicable to companies that submit applications to Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC) from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2026. The further tax deduction is deductible from the carbon credit income derived from trading at the BCX.
